Sketch to illustrate the concepts previously explained - yeah, body is a little ugly
A - In this piece, the glue is limited to the very bottom of the contact points between the body and the puddle. There are multiple attachment points between the two as well.
B -In this one, the glue has creeped up the body slightly, and has the tented splay shape as it flows down into the pool. The stretch is a single large pull rather than split into multiple smaller ones. Finally the body is slightly distorted along with the pull of the glue.
